Our thought and ideas about corruption, the chart was done as a class 30 september 2012
Today in class we learned a bit about corruption, first we wrote down words we felt are connected to corruption and then as a class created a chart. If someone who has higher status than you told you something that could make you lose something that is important to you, you could become corrupt, but it could be for all the right reasons or for all the wrong reasons, however, there is almost always another choice, another way to get out of it all such as the police or the government, but if the higher status is linked to these higher forces, then you will most likely become corrupt whilst saving yourself. This raised the question in me, why is it that people who are corrupt drag others down with them? It is almost always the intention of the corrupt person to drag others down with him, because there are always others involved in the process of becoming/being corrupt, this would be a personal, global and national issue since that one person could make sure that the whole world is involved and could affect a whole lot of things, this thought raised another question in me; can a person be corrupt all by itself without any involvement of other people or societies? That is very hard to answer since there are so many different cases, and this class just gave examples of more cases and reasons for becoming corrupt which really helped me think about these two questions and helped me produce answers, but I personally think, no someone cannot be corrupt alone since there is always someone else who led to the idea of becoming corrupt or someone else who is somehow involved in being corrupt, but there are instances that someone does something corrupt by themselves (eg. rob a bank for money) which means they did not involve other people becoming corrupt but there is always a reason for becoming corrupt which could and most likely does involve others. We did this thinking in class to make sure that everyone is on the same page regarding corruption and being able to share our knowledge of corruption and divide it into three categories, national, personal and global. ,Once we finished this, we divided into groups of three and four and created a freeze frame around one of the ideas in the chart (using it as stimuli). My group was a group of four and we did a freeze frame on a bad leader where the leader commanded his assistant to kill an innocent woman, the woman is pleading no on her knees and the other lady is begging for the bad leader to stop. We did this because it made each group think individually about corruption, but not only corruption, but also how we can express one type of corruption through a simple freeze frame. It was a very thought producing class today
